there is no distinguishing charateristic between males and feamles the only real way to tell is during mating or after when the male is mouth brooding...
There are differences, but they are not 100% exlusive. Rather, they are slightly more likely on a male than a female, such as in humans where most people with long hair are female, or assumed so, but it isn't 100%. Also, the male is not the only one that will carry eggs. Females will carry eggs in their mouths as well. This happens primarily only when there are more eggs then the male can hold.

Really? Please share with us how you arrived at that conclusion.

this is not true

HOW MUCH YOU WANNA BET ITS TRUE!

Dont be ignorant, maybe hes read it in a book, you never know. However I would like to see proof of this, where did you get your info from? I tend to disagree, if its true then its barely noticeable. Show us your source of info, AROWANA_MAN.

I don't think anybody is being ignorant by questioning his statement. Not even the aro breeders would dare claim that PLJ is a sign of the sex of an aro. Some of them are even conducting DNA testing just to sex aros since they can't tell otherwise. Besides, "How much do you want to bet" statements don't give much credibility either way. If there is proof, show it.

yeah i definitely agree. sexing arowanas is not an easy task and no method basing only on visual observation can be called reliable. first time ive heard of this PLJ thing and females carrying eggs too. im not a close minded person, but having some proof would really help clear some things here;)
