There are differences, but they are not 100% exlusive. Rather, they are slightly more likely on a male than a female, such as in humans where most people with long hair are female, or assumed so, but it isn't 100%. Also, the male is not the only one that will carry eggs. Females will carry eggs in their mouths as well.
