Its a good idea, but I would 100% believe that if it were that easy to sex them, then the method would have already been discovered and in use.

I know pattern variation is common, but personally I don't see male ornates very often.

Does anyone have a female with the 'high yellow' trait? blotchy vs striped finlets and very little black pigment on the pectoral fins?
