it's very small, so it's hard to sex, untill it hit's like 5",
from the pics if i had to guess i'd say male.

100 percent male with female dovii

very quick to guess are we?

i've seen some of mine i thought were males,
grow up and turn out to be females,
and vice versa in some cases.

i'd personally give it some time.

Too small to identify sex any sexes that anyone say right now are going to be false. juvi jags have the same markings so it is near impossible unless you vent the fish of course.

:grinyes:

Wrong, that fish has positive markings showing its a male do your homework posters. The spotting all over the lower gill plates and the all the large spotting on the upper and rear fins are a dead giveaway. Both male and female show a purple tint at that age but thats definetly a male. Wanna bet paychecks? Gonna be a nice looking fish when it matures.

many many fish, have marking's that fade with age, from the looks of it, i'd agree with you, and say male, but ime it's to young to sex.

That fish looked that exactly the same as my 3 males at that age. I knew mine were males when I bought them at 1.5". Its not impossible to sex them at this age, you just need to know what to look for. I purchased a total of four that day picking out a female and 3 males at this size. They all turned out be correct sex IDed and are now at the 5.5" mark.
