hmmm ya.. i guess i'll start doing every other day small changes and see how that goes...

Yep, Mr. Dick is right. I lost a few angelfish from large waterchanges. Now I aged my water with Prime for a few hours before a water change. I've heard people aging water for a few days with an air pump to lower pH.

How do you know your pH is 9.7? Did you test it?
 
yep i tested it wit a digital meter , those chemicals color showin water pH test , and paper dip test....

o btw, is amquel(or amquel +) pretty much the same thing as prime?

i wonder if its just my city though, cuz i heard other people in san mateo county have their tap at 8 which is pretty good...
 
My suggestion is to age the water. I have 5 large tanks consits of coms and single peice aros and always age my water before replacing safer than direct from tap. perhaps they are mixing newwater.

Mr. Au knows his stuff. Ive actually been to his house! :D Amazing fish and pet collection...
