Sorry for your loss:( I had a similar situation at work...I went on vacation and my friend thought she would be nice and change the water for the betta. She used water from the cooler, but used all cold water. My fish went into shock and died from the cold.

sorry to hear this bro phen and you have my condolences on your loss. was a beautiful fish.

Thats unlucky as mentioned education is best we all know channa dont do well with such large water changes, but fortunatley youre in an area where channa are more frequent and common, grab some more and help your brother learn from his mistake. Things live and die its part of the hobby :)

hey sorry for your loss mate , they really do hate large changes to there water , i lost my reds at less than 50% change trickled in via ro and carbon block.

let me ask you a favor though , have you still got the fish ? if so can you please take a picture of the teeth for me and post it up , i can then get a picture of marulia teeth which are totally diferant ,so we can have a guide for telling them apart when in juvie stages ,as there is a lot comming into the trade at the moment that look very much mauraloides but on inspection of teeth have been found to be marulia

many thanks col

Sorry to hear, I wouldn't worry about placing blame. Things happen, the most important thing is to help him learn. :)

agreed, maybe a 100 percent wasnt the greatest idea.. prob should of did a 50 and then a few smaller water changes instead of all the water at once..

your fish might have died due to shock.. possibly ph?
