Fish: 'Geophagus' iporangensis
Common name:
Region: Rio Ribeiro de Iguapi, Brazil
Size: 7"
Reason for choosing this fish: reminds me of a red texas / firemouth / umbee
Interesting characteristics: colors really pop and mildly aggressive temperament

Amphilophus Lyonsi
Common Name:N/A
Region: Coto River/Costa Rica- Dupi River/Panama
Size: reported for males:10 inches/ for females:8 inches
Reason for choosing: My main reason for choosing the Lyonsi is it's very even temperament. It is one of the least aggressive of the Amphilophus family. Most say their about as aggressive as a Green Terror or Jack Dempsey. My pair is even less aggressive than that. Mostly bluff and display are all I see, with it barely ever leading to even a frayed fin. Also for a Amphilophus they're on the small side and therefore more easily housed adult size. Even though it's been reported that males only reach 10 inches my male is 12 inches presently so it is possible for them to grow a litle larger than the norm. To me a good cichlid choice for comm.'s.

Just like in the link you gave, I guess I was one of the people who commonly confuse it with the Texas cichlid, thats why I wanted the info, was getting lost in translation on the common name. Thanks bud.
