what is that at the front middle of the cabinet, looks like some sort of lcd screen?

Yep its a 4.3" touchscreen controlled by an Arduino that I programmed. Controls the LED arrays, autofeeders, etc.

Spent wayyyyy too much time on it. I eventually plan on transitioning the tank control to a home automation software.

Nice... how much of a P.I.T.A is it to setup something like that??? Sounds like something i would one day be interested in setting up depending on cost :P

I spent over 80 hours on just the arduino integration with the electronics... and I'm an electrical engineer with quite a bit of experience with arduinos.

Its the graphics and interface that take forever. Really tedious and labor intensive to get it to look good and work fast on an arduino. I made mine about 2 years ago, now theres quite a bit more realistic options such as using a raspberry pi or android tablet for the GUI. There's quite a few people who have made their own interfaces and share the schematics and code. That's a much better route than trying to do it yourself, and unless you have some weird fetish for making it yourself.

^ yup, sounds like way more work than i ould want to put in to a completely automated system... But just shows how impressive it really all is once its working...

Thank you convict 360. They didn't get dirty yet hope not:) so far everything doing well, Last week I had to shut off the co2 because a lot of stuff I think they over grown. Let see how they do without it before I turn it back on.
