Sorry, I really couldn't say, the sumps and japaneese mats came with the tank. They handle the bio load so I'm hesitant to change out the front sump with k3 media.

I've also thought of just using a ton of bio rings/ matrix in bags, and some large sponge sheets? I'm still having some problems figuring out what I should use and how to set up the mechanical media- filter floss, fine sponges, or filter socks?

On my 350g tank, I run a large nylon (not felt style) filter sock with floss in it for the sump. It works well and is easy to clean.

Definitely not ideal but was my only option since this was an existing tank with fish in it.
Eshopps overflow - jebao dct 12000 -diy sock holders- 2x 7 inch socks - couldnt tell you how much bio but allot - 3x water lettuce - full spectrum led bulb - ac110 filled with purigen amd poret foam.

I'm beginner still but here how it looks
I will fill it up with a bunch more ceramic rings and eventually rid of the bioballs

Can I recommend you drill some holes in the lid the filter sock is mounted to? The sock will eventually clog and overflow. They all do at some point. Vacations etc... You will want to ensure the full flow of water can move over that try/lid without spilling over the sides of the sump, should it clog. Drilling some 1/2" holes around where the socks mount would ensure that is a non-issue

Yes bro great idea! And actually it already happens a few times lol that's why now I have 3 clean filter socks ready for rotation. Thanks
