SHARE YOUR WORST EXPERIENCES WITH AN AROWANA

My first one escaped before the top was secured correctly.

Second one jumped into the overflow and was gone for weeks ...
Every time I looked he hid low in there ...
... but he is doing just fine and getting bigger.

I think he's mad at me past few days (since he saw me fish a ton of guppy's out of the other tank ... and none went in with him)

He's a spoiled brat! :grinno:

I am happy to say that my worst experiances have been because I love my aro more than life itself, so whenever the slightest things go wrong I spaz out. The aro is fine though. :)

Fortunately I really have nothing to post in this thread, other then one time, while adjusting my heater, my aro decided to go on a outer tank adventure. He was quickly returned to the tank though, with no real damage.

me too...mine has made his mad leap to freedom several times in the past few years, but luckily it was always while i was home..the last time i was on the other side of the room and watched him push the weights away like they were nothing...very powerful fish....

Along time ago, I had a big silver (24") and when I was cleaning his tank I had my head over the tank scrubbing, and he tried to jump out and poked me in the eye with his snout. he didn't make it out of the tank but I thought I was blind for a minute. ( I was actually jus freaked out.) pretty freakin' funny now.

@ andsco; that is pretty funny afterwards!

My worst experience was when i bought my first Asian. He was in the box and jumped a couple of times during transport. When i was at home and opened the box, he had jumped his whole tailfin off... i was quite freaked out cuz it was an expensive fish and he looked like **** at that point. luckely all will be good in the future.

   Could you imagine if that was on vid. tape. lol

my boyfriend had a very very skittish 22" silver. honestly, it was a big fat scared baby around everyone, even the cat. the first day i had been around it, i forgot to worry about the arowana's feelings and shook out a big white garbage bag in the same room. it freaked out, i freaked out, and my boyfriend got a little ticked off.

years ago in my n00b days my first siver aro at 5in. jumped out and my cat ate it!
