sharing my 47cm red

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
pics are taken from the day the fish arrived up to now, the fish was in tanning early september for a month.

The aro looks like it has drop eye one of the side effects of tanning

Tanning is cruel in my eyes all things need to rest and subjecting any creature to light 24/7 is not right it's even used as a form or toucher

Most people tan from the side which is why the aro gets drop eye as a aro would never get sun light from the side in the wild

Nice aro but what you have done to make it look like that is wrong

I would go with golden 24k back, they look nicer among all golden aro type.

DE on left side, and was already DE the time it arrived in my tank.

good to hear that, just be sure to check details on the fish before buying them. Here in my area, the price started from as low as US $300 for a baby super red, a low quality one, then it goes up to around $1000 US for the good one, a baby size. Thats the price range here, else where maybe sky rockets. Still it is best to get them at around 20cm, just to be safe with the quality.
We have arowana contest this December here, hopefully I could go and see it, and take some pics.

Hi,
Can you explain what you mean by low quality super red ?
Is it the colour, body shape, fin size, rim colour crossing over back ? Please do explain in detail.
I like to learn alot about reds especially, because Im planning to buy one in the future.
All of the red aros Ive seen so far in person are just different shades of orange in colour without any lighting. But the certificates say Super red, Blood red etc. The aros Im talking about are over 50cm.
So will the super reds really turn red or just remain orangish at adulthood ?
Or is it rare and much expensive to buy a SR which turns red ?
Also Ive heard some people saying that if you want a quality red, get it from Indonesia, Is this true ?
Is there is a price difference for red aros in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore ?

Sorry for asking so many questions.

Not to hop on this quasi-necro'd thread, but I have to agree with t1karrman. That's a hideous thing to do to an animal. Its not a decoration. Its a living being. Show a little respect.

I like the natural red coloration - why would you take the red away ?

If you want a silver fish - get a silver, or a jardini ? It just doesn't make sense to me.
