I just used black sand from petsmart didn't cloudy my water at all but I washed it first .... And pooring it in will be fine with them in it just try not to poor it directly on top of them

Iv just gotten a collection like this .. I slowly got 3-4 of the little harder to find bichirs ... Bout a month or so ago I was finally like heck with it and decided to spend a few hundred dollers and get some nice ones that are rare and wc😊 haha so worth it I have 12 now

haha yeaahh.. tht's what fishkeepers do haha it's really hard to find rare ones here at my place .. ive seen an ornate for $15 once but damn i just didnt have space tht time.. btw how big is ure tank?

A ornate for 15$! Space or not it woulda been mine lol my ornate was 50$ for a 7" wc one .... and I can't find nothin here ... I had to order the rare ones online.... I got 2 60 gal tanks ... I'm upgrading to 125 gal in 2 months it's my Xmas present from my girl haha that should last me bout 2 years till I can move and get my own house and then Ill be gettin a 300-400 gallon and adding much much more bichirs to it with a arowana

yeah an ornate for $15.. i repeat $15 haha but tht ornate is only about 2-3" or so.. so it's reasonable :)
wow! tht's a quiet big project u have there haha you are a mad bichir keeper haha
btw do u just mix the little ones with the big polys?

Yes I do except my 2-3" bichirs they r in a separate tank but all the others r together they do fine no squabbles lol but I would not mix a endli with anything that is more than 3" smaller than it for future reference when my 9" endli was 4" he ate his 2" brother and a 2" delhezi ... Endlis are the worst about eating others
