Like your choice of fish, especially the Bowfin. We don't see them at all here in the UK. I saw one as akid in a public aquarium and loved the look of them.
I don't think your tank is over stocked compared to most on here.
I'm intrigued by the Pothos-you just let the roots be submerged yes? Does it need specific lighting?
 
Thanks. Yup I just keep the roots submerged. Lighting is nothing special; just a 4' shop light with cheap bulbs. I keep it on a timer for about 8 hours a day.
