tinfoils are very active and need schools, not to mention get to a foot long. best off back at the store. a common pleco sure as heck wouldn't, you should see my dads HUGE 2 1/2 foot one! he also has another at about 16" right now.

You could have a group of 3 in a 250-300 tank. =) For the plec it all depends on turning room.;)

Personally, since he is getting a huge tank, I think he should go for his original idea and simply grow out the fish. It will take some time for those guys to outgrow a tank of that size, and when the time comes he should simply find them a new home.

This is something most of members on here do... and have a kick ass setup going!

i'd return ALL of your fish, as every single one will outgrow your tank.

dude. im planning on getting a 200-300 gal tank like right before x mas... so in my 55 right now i have.
1 5 inch or so tin foil
2 5-6 inch paroons
1 3 inch id shark
1 5-6 inch pleco

there is TONS of room in my 55 and thats why im planning now.. my sharks have tons of room to swim and enjoy life. ( altough they tend to stay in the corner  )
but i wanna get them ( sharks ) into the 200-300 tank soon so they can have tons of room to swim.. also instead of all black fish i wanted to toss in a couple pictus, columbians to add some colour i have been reading and the columbian, pictus, and ID's dont grow over a foot so a tank that is 2 feet wide should be plenty! ( for now )

once i buy a house ( 1-2 yr ) i wanna build a 5000 gallon to house these. but for now my parents wont let me build that tank so a 200-300 is what i get.

BACK TO MY MAIN QUESTION....
do i HAVE to make my water brackish for the columbians like 90% of the webistes i find say... and if so can/will my other sharks live in that?
thanks guys for the help
