shark pond filtration

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
so eaiset setup would be just a container for the skimmer and flow back into the tank?

my only worry is that i would go to simple and not have enough filtration

sorry to get off topic but the more im reading into these pools im seeing a debate on what kinds and liners. can anyone put their 2 cents in? like to find a square pool. also would it be worthwhile to use rodi just to combat the algae? this is being placed in a room with lots of light

In a big tank, you'll be doing some scrubbing if you have light. There's really no way around it. Even with RO/DI as a base for your water make up, the feeding and biology of the sharks will give you lots of nitrate and phosphate to feed the green monster.

so is there any way to combat this other than an algae scrubber or is that just kind of the way its going to be for a setup like this

My water always stays pretty clear as you can see in my avitar pic. I just get a lot of red slime algae and diatom algae on the liner and rock work. I just run sand filters and a large wet dry.

why sand filters? whats the difference between them and a stand saltwater pump?

By sand filter I mean just your standard pool filter. I like them cause they work great, their simple to care for and their cheap. When it comes time to clean them you just flip the lever and backwash. You could go with a bead filter but they are much more money. As far as pumps go you can pretty much use whatever you want as long as it puts out enough pressure to run the filter. You should surf around aquatic eco's web site for some ideas on filter set ups.

It may cost more, but I am a big fan of the bead filters. I have 3 and couldn't be happier. No channeling, easy backwash and rinse. Just another option.
