I know its a prety small tank, do the black tip reef live in freshwater? and how many gallon do i need?

dude .. you will never keep a black tip reef shark. they grow hugeeee. they were my main focus for a few days .. tried to get one until i realised how big they get .. and that they may be saltwater (if i remember correctly) .. they will grow to maybe 4 feet long or something and need like 1200+ gallon aquarium .. once again if i remember correctly

Hey .. Funny, I think i posted this exact thread back when I first started fish keeping. i didn't want fish .. I wanted sharks. Freshwater sharks. especially after hearing there were such thing as sharks for aquariums that don't grow too big. After ALOT of searching and research etc. I found out .. out of luck bro. I've looked at every single shark you can keep in 100 gal or less tank I'm pretty sure and trust me. you're not going to find what you're looking for. I've had bala (silver) sharks .. look like capelin. Redtail black sharks .. rainbow sharks, pretty much everything and nothing has looked like a real shark for freshwater. However, there is one upside you might like. Iridescent sharks .. I had two in a 50 gallon a long time ago and they swam and looked a lot like real sharks! Trust me .. they are the closest you will get. The downside is eventually they will grow to 24"s maybeeee more. They will last a good while in a 65 gallon but eventually you will have to upgrade you're tank. Either way .. hit up youtube and check out irridescent or paroon sharks .. I think it will catch you're attention. If not, you're out of luck. nothing really looks closer to a wild saltwater shark. Any questions feel free to pm (By the way i ended up turning my attention after from sharks to other aggresive mean fish such as oscar's, snakeheads, arowana .. that kind of thing)

Im starting to think about converting my pool! ...

The youtube link doesn't work for me but ya paroon's are amazing. and if you buy them young you can probably keep them in the 65 gal for year and a half maybe 2 until needing to upgrade. and as for the pool that'd be cool. alot of money though. .. need a cover, heaters .. a reallyyy good filtration system and spend alot on food for a shark that big. plus the biggest downside to saltwater sharks is they are known to be one of the most fineky fish to keep ... verrryyyy picky on water conditions etc and die easily if not kept by someone with a lot of saltwater experience. My buddy had a few after i got my id sharks and lost them all pretty quickly

And I just noticed you're Canadian like me .. which is a hugeeee upside. it means snakeheads are legal to you. Be honest, half the reason you want sharks is cause you're buddies will find it badass when they see them and find it really cool to feed them live fish and stuff. am i right? If so, trust me. take advantage of you;re location and go snakeheads instead of sharks. they are illegal in all of the USA because of how bad they are .. especially in the wild. If you get some of those badass's and feed them in front of you're buddies .. be way better then sharks. Plus you can get dwarf snakeheads which only grow from 8-12"

Lol not just like the shark, but what about your snakeheads, do you have picture or video? and where do i get those

haha alright. i just figured it might because cause i iked sharks to but that was half the reason i wanted them to start. ummm. anyy LFS can ship in snakeheads for you like mine did. Although you live in quebec .. I'm pretty sure they are more common to be kept in LFS's as opposed to here. you might get lucky and find some outright in a LFS, if not they will deffinatly ship them in for you. As for pic's or video's .. I don't have any because mine aren't in yet. still waiting another week for them to arrive. Just search snakeheads in google pictures to see them or in youtube to watch some different video's

one video off hand i remember is .. giant snakeheads vs catfish
search that in youtube and it's a video of them feeding. or search something like channa bleheri for a different cooler looking species of snakeheads (blue fins etc). enjoy

Edit: channa _______ .. are the scientific names for snakeheads so if you see posts saying things about channa .. that means snakeheads
