well if you have read that, that should give you a pretty good idea of what would happen and it will for sure

i have also read that triggers must be alone, yet i have the 4 mixed together with many other fish aswell without problems. i have seen some vids with them mixed with sharks and they seemed fine. i know you cant always trust the vids cause they could be set up. i would like to know who has tried it and if anyone has had it work out. just cause you read something doesn't make it true. thus why i am asking for some experience on this mix. i have done things that 'aren't possible' by most, yet they work for me. some don't yes, but others do.

have you personally done/tried this mix? if yes then how long till you saw it wasn't going to work? have you tried it with different sp of each? if you haven't tried it multipule times then how can you surely tell me it will fail?

i am gathering info on the fails and successes(if any). to include the sp. that experienced the best success ratios and the more prudent fails. most likely i will try this mix myself, depending on the results of this 'survey', will dictate the sp. that i may choose. obviously i wouldn't try a bull shark with my triggers, but a smaller more self contained shark that still can hold its own may be worth a shot. just don't shoot someone down for thinking a 'sure fail' may actually work. up untill i did the mix of triggers i didn't find much info on the mixes. not that it hasn't been done before, but from what i seen it was a 'newer area' inwitch i would be pushing the boundries of keeping my fish. sharks and triggerfish mix fits that 'boundry'. if that makes sence.

I have a niger and wouldnt stop messing with my bamboo so I had to put him in the other tank.

was the trigger in the tank first or did you add it after the shark?

well I wouldnt take the chance on something like what you are stating, from past experience with other fish that I had, people said dont put thus and so in with them and I thought it just didnt work for them but i will give it a try and the outcome was the same for me as them , so thats why I dont chance it. Maybe if you have a 1500 gallon aquarium, pond or pool it could be a different outcome but surely not normally. Not putting you down, you asked the question.

My shark has one damaged eye from an angelfish...hate to think what a trigger could/would do.

The only way to keep triggers and sharks together - is to have big active sharks - which means you need a large tank/pond/lagoon (i.e tens of thousands of gallons).

In a private home aquaria - it's definitely a Bad idea to keep benthic sharks with triggers. You'll most likely end up with a seriously injured shark. About the only benthic sharks - that might be able to go one on one with a trigger - would be either a Nurse Shark or a Wobbegong. Then depending on the species of trigger - you might end up with a dead trigger.

So basically the point is - Just Don't Do It.

IME I had no issues. Purple tang was my issue.

If you where to try it I would go with a blue jaw if anything as they are the only trigger noted and successfully kept as reef safe. It is best to keep them apart but if your dead set on it, which it sounds like, I would keep 24hr eyes on the tank and have a back up tank. Feed heavy and reduce the heat, that should reduce some of their aggression. If possible make sure the shark is added to the tank first and at night time so its more active.

I still don't advise it but hopefully that will help.
