Well - if the Bull sharks is 40" at 3 years old - and assuming it was about 24" at birth - then that would average just over 5 inches per year.
As for the Whitetip - to grow about 16" in a span of 8 years is much slower than average for a wild Whitetip. However if the whitetip grow at a normal rate then it would only be about 3-4 years old. Still Whitetip reefs can have a lifespan of 20-25 years.

Dom, those are cool but I think that the are still pretty large cold water sharks the are very fast swimmers of the open ocean. Of those type of shark though I think the salmon shark is my favorite. They just look bad ass.
I don't know maybe a hammer pup. We will see. If I could have it my way I would get a sandbar. They are so cool. Does and body know anything about the grey reef shark? That would be a little different.
I saw in your old thread and from your pics on your album your tank is already pretty large. How many gallons though is it?

Hmm I gess they would need a bit more room than what anyone (privately) can provide. Salmon sharks are sweet to I like all the sharks in that family.
I like hammers to bonetheads are cool. I think you said they were uber fragile though.
If you want a sandbar just go to cape may nj and go out into the delawhere bay this summer and catch some. There everywhere in there. Heck ill even help you catch one i love catching sharks. Theres lots of bat rays you can catch to.
Yeah - the porbeagle looks kind like a mini Great White, except in this case mini still means they get about 10ft long. They are primarily a cool water species that preys on fish.
And like their close relatives the mako & great white - these sharks tend to do poorly in captivity. At present I know of no public aquarium that is attempting to keep this species. So they definitely aren't suited of any private aquarist.

I find it so interesting when people start asking questions in the forum about someone elses post and start making assumptions about the shark in question. Yet nobody has asked me and I'm the one with first hand knowledge about that particular shark. Here's the secret to keeping your sharks from growing like a bad fungus and yet keeping them healthy:
1) Only feed once every 5 days but enough to satiate. Too many shark owners totally dig watching their sharks eat to the point that they don't realize that the over feeding will increase their metabolism and growth rate. As long as your shark maintains it's normal body confirmation and behaves normally, it's safe to assume you are meeting its nutritional needs. (And always add vitamins to the food!!!)
2) Keep the water temp. in the low 70's (for tropicals). Warmer water will increase the metabolism as well.
As far as stunting their growth is concerned and any renal/liver damage I can only say that the one Long Beach had a couple years ago was purchased from me and was kept by me under the same conditions as the one I have now. From what I understand they gave it to OK Aquarium, so OK would be the ones to ask about it's current health status. I've donated quite a few sharks to aquariums over the years after keeping them in my tanks. All of the ones I was able to keep track of seemed to live on nicely.

Oh, one other thing I forgot to mention is that I have kept 3 Bulls and have found them as easy to keep as lemons. I don't like contradicting Matt (Zoodiver) because he is really sharp. But on this one I must disagree based on my own experiences.
