Sharks that should be available- be usually aren't

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So far I haven't seen any Chain catsharks in public aquariums or in LFSs. I've only heard of them in the being kept in larger Public Aquariums.

I had thought that the freycinet's eppies was in the U.S. - and sometimes being sold as normal epaulettes. Your statement - Elasmofreak - kind of confirms that thought. So it may be still possible to find them - but look carefully.

Hopefully with the new finding of the eps in indo we will see them here within a few years! I cant wait! They have long been a favorite of mine, and i cannot wait to captive breed them!

It is because they come from astralia, and since astralia dosen't have a lot of differn't stuff to choose from transhippers rarely purchase anything from them. Let me enlighten you on who I am, I am a saltwater distributer. This is the reason I know these things, you see every week I have a order of fish from the phillipines arrive, my transhipper also brings in every other week a shipment from shri lanka, a shipment from bali, and about once a mounth a shipment from the red sea. When I ask my transhipper to get me some wobbegongs he says it isn't worth it to bring a shipment in, all the other stuff they have you can get from the phillipins for less than half the price. So you do see wobbegongs for sell but not in the numbers people would like to see. Each and every place has fish that are indegest to that specific place, for example Powder blue tangs you have to get for shri lanka, yellow tangs from hawaii, and so on. and where you get these fish from determines your price. Salfin tangs from phillipins usally run you about $29.99 in a pet store for a 2.5" tang, the sailfin tang from hawaii all though better in color will run you about $39.99. These is do to the fact that phillipine fish catchers don't get payed very well at all, hawaii divers make alot more, so even though it cost less to have fish shipped from hawaii, the amount the divers get is much greater.
