Shedd Aquarium Chicago

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I went there for my second time in July. I agree, it does seem like some of their fish could use a bit more space, but they all seem healthy and active. And some of them have thrived in the Shedd's care for quite some time (e.g. one of the lungs they currently have was acquired by the aquarium in 1933).

I have been there a LONG time ago. Don't remember too aweful much. I was hoping to go there sometime next year.

We just went to the Newport aquarium (Cincinnati Ohio) this last weekend, though. The giant saltwater tank that the aquarium was built around was really awesome. The jellyfish exhibit was great as well.

The rest, I didn't think was too great. They had a bunch of little african cichlid tanks, but nothing really for ca/sa cichlids, which was pretty dissapointing.

They also had a lot of tanks mis-labled, which kind of irritated me. Maybe they had just switched up stock in the tanks or something.....But there were definitely fish in certain tanks that were not properly labled. And some people were in there asking what kind of fish such and such was, and I had to answer hahaha

Overall, I don't think I'll be going back to that one any time soon.
The last time I was at the Newport aquarium (which was earlier this year), they had quite a few SA cichlids throughout the Amazon area. Nothing particularly rare, but they did have geos, multiple species of sevs, oscars, uarus, cichla, etc.
