I am wondering if you can put shells in a Freshwater Ray tank. I have shells someone sent me to put in my tank from Tarpon Springs Florida. I think I remember you weren't suppose to put shells from the ocean in a freshwater fish tank. Has anybody heard this or am I just getting old and making it up my self. I haven't put them in there yet. I wanted to find out for sure. Don't want to kill my new ray. :stingray:

Make sure that the shells have zero sharp edges. Depending on how many shells you place in your tank, the shells could effect your water parameters, especially the ph.

How many gallons is your tank? How many shells we talking about here?

Tank is 195 gal and it's 3 shells about the size of a fist and a half.

Yea I think one is a scallop shell and one looks kind of like a conch but has 5 long spikes growing from it. Not sharp ones though.

i think they will mess with your Ph and that could be bad for your ray...
