After 3 years being bunked at my buddies house, my 12 year old ornate made it back home tonight, along with her smaller roomie.
She's 18" long, and the smaller one is about 15". Her colour should come back in a few days.
My tank suddenly doesn't look as big, and neither do my other bichirs. :)

Hopefully they leave my plants intact.

She looks good! :) It's good to be home! :D

James, bet that feels good to have them back in your tank. Very healthy looking fish. Impressive looking shot of them with the foliage. Your are fueling the plant obsession now.

It's definitely great to have her back. My 12" dels look SOOOO small now. :)
I really like the fact they they're long enough to see varying shadows along them from the LED lights.
It's hard to believe that when I got her she was only 3" long. I'm just waiting for the lights to come on now so I can see what they look like this morning.

she is awesome.... James u have inspired me in making one planted like what u have.... got a deal done for a second hand tank today.... gonna make that a grow out for my Ornates i got this morning.....

have a q... what kind of LED r u using... is that enuf light for the plants? and other than vals what plants u have...?

It's always a great feeling to own a bichir that was once your. I was so excited too when i got my bichirs back from a friend. Those bichirs looked like they were well cared for while they were out o your possession. I am glad they are with you and hope they stay with you this time.

Gar, glad I could inspire another person to plant their poly tank. :) The lights are 20 watt LED floodlights. There were 4 on the tank, but I currently have three running. I grow vals, hygrophila, bolbitis, and tiger lotus. I need to get CO2 going on this tank, as the light is intense enough that black brush algae is starting to grow.
Fish, it's great to finally get them back. They were supposed to move back some time ago, but then I got my dels, and had to move them out of my 50 before they started eating fish in there. They had to get big enough to not get eaten by the ornates.

Awesome! How about a full tank shot?
