my fire place room has a slanted floor. I was gonna put up my 65g in here as a betta tank since he keeps eating all the shrimp in my 30g planted . floor was built with a slope. anybody have any pionters/ideas on how to even out the stand? its a typical pine wood stand from a LFS.
shimmer in the front? foam flooring pad on the front only? foam pad all the way around?
. not sure how to tackle this little problem any insight is greatly appreciated .

You can use wood shims to get the stand balanced.

Balance the stand with shims. The tank will follow :)

adding shims in different corners won't throw off the weight distribution of the stand? instead of the whole run of the bottom plank spreading weight all the weight will be on the shims a few inches in size. couldn't it possibly cause the stand to twist/distort.

sorry for the dumb questions but this is the first time issue for me and the last thing I want is to hear my 65g crash and dump all that water on my floor in the middle of the night.

I like composites, if they get wet, they won't break down and compact over time. Opinions will vary but you'll need to shim every 6-12" or at least underneath every support. The more the better to evenly distribute the weight, but you don't need to go crazy because it is only a 65 gallon tank. Control how high you raise the tank by how far you insert the shim, they are graduated so you can control the lift pressing them under various distances.

Like Grinch said I would remove the tank. Then just level the stand by adding shims and use a level to test.

so since the 65g is just basicly an extra tank I decided to "experiment ".

I'm using the foam walking pads to adjust the level. over a week it compressed to about half the size,at full size it is perfect level

I added a new pad today, going to wait till it compresses again install the already compressed pad and see how the level comes out after that.

yes I have to much time on my hands :)

Had to do this with my 125. Pine stand and crap apartment floor didn't wanna work. Home depot composite shims and a wood plank on one end solved the problem. I have a few under it now too because the concrete slab on my dad's patio makes the thing wanna lean forward. Looks like those puzzle piece looking things will work. I've also used chunks of folded cardboard on smaller tanks too.

Also since yours is only a 65 you will have a lot more leeway. As long as there's no more than like 1/4 inch off level you will be ok. On the level just make sure it is between the black lines.
