Shimming??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That would scare me. I would not fill that as is.

As for the wood, I'm a bit confused. Why would it bow? Does the stand have legs, or does the whole perimeter sit on the floor?

The stand has legs. Only about 1/2" high, and if I had to guess without going to measure, I'd say about 3" square.

You can put a piece of plywood under it then shim between the wood/stand. With that must twisting I'd find a new location if I were you. All my tanks are off by about 1/16 of an inch and it drives me crazy!

Sorry for the confusion. I thought that your stand touched the floor all the way around.

I agree. Put ply down, then shim away and see if you can level it. Otherwise, it may be a good idea to consider a different location.

Ok, tank is level side to side (no twisting).. It still leans forward a bit.. But, if the heavy rocks/decor etc. are going to be along the back of the tank, what's the likely hood this will level itself out as I fill and not be a problem?

It's probably not going to level itself out, but a little lean isn't too big of a deal, as long as it isn't twisting, and as long as the lean is minimal.

Ok.. Background painted, I'm level all the way across, I've stuck plywood under the two front feet (the back of the tank is solid to the floor, there are 2 adjustable "feet" underneath the stand in the middle), and then the two feet in front. I have a slight amount of lean going toward the back (which doesn't scare me nearly as much as lean toward the front), and it looks like it will settle into the carpet, and be level.

Sound safe enough?

(No picking on my crappy pics, please - I wanted to post this before I left to get my black sand) Or should I do black/white mix?
