Right now I am using Ebay as the price for UPS overnight comes to about $55 (1/2 of normal price) for shipping fish.

How do people ship overnight so cheap?

Also, does anybody know where to get styrofoam insulated shipping containers for cheap?

I’m assuming you’re referring to when you buy from a place such as aqua imports or the wet spot? If I am assuming correctly then the answer to your question is that the place you are buying from ships out packages in such great and consistent quantity that they are able to negotiate better deals with the shipping provider (ups, fed ex, usps, etc) than what we normal people who only ship out a few packages once in a blue moon can get.

I want to register as a business and create a website like them. Maybe then they will take me seriously enough to where I can get deals like that.

Aye, that’s the way to go to be taken seriously, however, if you are going down that route then you have to make sure all your ducks are in a row and Uncle Sam gets his cut.

You remind me of someone, there is a fellow who goes by JasonsPlecosCichlids JasonsPlecosCichlids who recently, within the past 2 years years if I remember correctly, started his own business bringing in and selling fish. He has become quite successful if I may say so myself and he started off with nothing if memory serves correctly. If I were you then I’d reach out to him and see if you can discuss a few things with him. Who knows, maybe he could be a mentor to you. Here is his site, he has brought in several “firsts” regarding plecos as far as I know.

I have imported some of the more rare stuff like plat gar, plat endlicheri bichir, yellow fire eel, so I have importation down and good connections in indo.

It's the domestic shipping I am having trouble with. Hopefully JasonGoneFishing can provide me some info on how he ships his fish. I need to get my hands on bulk styrofoam shipping containers like all the sellers use.

Well I certainly do not mean for this to sound as though I’m demeaning you but have you considered what you want your business to be known for? As far as I have seen there are 3 basic groups a seller can be put into, the bread and butter group where all they do is bring in bread and butter fish such as neon tetras and bronze cories, the color group where they’re known for being able to bring in color morphs, and the rare group who are able to track down truly rare fish such as fugupuff fugupuff and from the looks of it JasonsPlecosCichlids JasonsPlecosCichlids . If you wish to remain bringing in color variations then you seem to be doing decent as you’ve already done some decent examples as you’ve mentioned. The bread and butter shouldn’t be a problem as you can just follow in the foot steps of the giants that have came before you. The rare group however, they will be tricky to join.

I do apologize if the above is of no use to you however I merely wanted the future to be on your radar.

The rare and color morph. anything oddball to the extreme. Don't know, we will see where this leads :) Maybe I will end up like JasonGoneFishing haha. Just need to get this shipping stuff down, seems to be my only obstacle. I have shipped like 50 fish through ebay but im tired of their 12.5% fee, but it's the only way I am able to make shipping prices bearable (50% less ship cost)
