Shipping Live Fish Internationally

I'm going through a few fish markets right now and seeing some incredibly low prices and rare fish that you don't normally see in the states.
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience transhipping internationally to the US?

I sent a 1 ounce letter the other day from Panama to Milwaukee, 48 hour guaranteed arrival time , cost me $57.
If money is no object, no big deal, but can you imagine the cost of a 5-10 LB box of fish.

So I asked around locally and the process is that the fish will be shipped air cargo to an airport, where it's then picked up by another courier in your home country who specializes in the shipment of live fish. This shipment is then shipped overnight to your destination.

So there are 2 shipping fees involved, the international and domestic.

Has anyone had experience doing this before?

The standard box they'd use is 45”x60”x30”. I'd imagine it's much more than 5-10lbs hahaha

Would only really be worth it if there was something you absolutely can't get in the states.... and is still legal to own in the US

Shipping fish from Asia to the US is a very expensive venture from what i’ve been told and not often worth it unless you are shipping a lot fish to off-set the cost...

If i remember correctly, i think someone once told me it would cost around $500-$1000 USD to ship a box of fish to the states from Asia due to the weight of the water and the size of both the bags + box needed to ship the fish in...

Also, dont forget to check if there is any paper work needed prior to shipping...
