Hello, I'm going to be attending the ACA and while I'm up there I intend to buy a new ray, I was wondering what should I do to prevent the barb from tearing the bag during flight. I'd rather not have to cut it and I was wondering if I could just tape it down until I get home and I also thought about multiple bags, or shipping it in a large container stored inside of a styro. Thanks for the help.

catch the ray, and get a small piece of airline and push it onto the barb, will prevent it popping the bag.

or just transport in polystyrene box without a bag if not a long journey.

I shipped a mid-size ray (around 18-20 inch disc) a few months back; I put on air hose tubing (see video), but it came off in transit. If I were to do it again I would use more force in applying the tubing to the barb to make sure it was really well fastened.

Be sure to use very thick bags. I'd recommend a total thickness of at least 6 mm.
