Short body bichir?

I know there are a lot of knowledgeable people on here. I was looking at my poly and thought to my self I have no idea why my SB is a SB. Is it like dwarfism were its a bone disorder? Any info would be awesome. I looked it up but couldn't find any real info on why.

What species is it? How big is it? What size?
 
I'm pretty sure its really just selective breeding, but there's probably a few polys down the line that had some spinal and probably other problems to.
 
It is possible, I bought two albino senegals at the same time and raised them in the same tank along with all of my other grow outs, monitored how much they ate to be sure no one missed a meal. Both started at about 2". One grew to 7" in about 6 months while the other one only grew to about 3"
