short body fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Stunted fish is when a normal fish do not grow properly and often living in poor conditions or due to lack of foods. The stunted fish usually don't live longer and do not confused stunted fish with slow-growing fish, its two different things. Short bodied fish with spinal deformity often will live longer and have same lifespan as their normal cousins do. Fancy goldfish don't live longer as their single-tailed cousins but if they are in good husbandry they will live up to 15-20 years. Anyways most goldfish (fancy or not) do not live longer due to the abuse. Blood Parrots will live up to 15-20 years as I have a blood parrot that is 10+ years old right now.
Thanks.

It also depends on how prone the species is to the side-effects of organ compression. Some types of fish throw pretty healthy genetic short-bodies, while others throw short-lived individuals.

^ yeah I've heard the SB bichirs don't last too long as all their organs are squished together since they're supposed to be a longer snake like fish. They have to breach more because their lungs aren't big enough

Oh, that dosnt sound good, but i guess i could imagine. How often does normal bichirs go to take air?

Here's a pic of my friends short bodied green terror, he seems to have no problems and looks like he's full grown. The fish is about 2 and 1/2 years old now
