Absolutely true. Fancy goldfish are deformed beauties and the odder they are, the higher price they command. Ryunkins are highly valued for their shortest, most crooked body form. Normal body goldfish are only good as feeders.
In cichlids, short body=deformed dwarf. High body=tall normal body form. I currently have a subadult male Green Terror that has the tallest body that looks like a discus with a hump. He will likely be my next breeder.
