Short body Texas sexing?

I am not familiar with short bodied anything. Looks more like a carpintis to me than a Texas. If it were a carpintis or a texas, the black mid dorsal spot would suggest female.

Well just an update the egg tube already dropped , tried to get a pic but she’s hiding and defending her area intensively so it’s hard to get a pic lol I’m hoping to find her a male to breed with maybe a non shortbody

So just an update the pair just had there first spawn of fry, I’m hoping there good parents so I can keep some of the fry, I wonder if some will be shortbody and some regular body?

Should end up with quite a few shortbodies. A mfk member proved the sb as a dominant, he created his line from a female x Escondido outcross.

Just an update after about 5 days taking care of the fry I woke up and the parents have eaten all the fry and lost there breeding colors, I guess there not the best parents lol next time if they breed again I’ll remove the babies as soon as there free swimming

Just an update, they’ve breed a few times since then, i managed to keep a few of the fry from there last batch, growing them out, looking to keep any that turn out to be shortbody

Just an update, I ended up with about 6 fry I’m growing out, out of all 6 one of them was shortbody, gonna move him to his own tank and grow him out because he seems to be the weakest of the bunch and getting bullied quite abit

Got any plans on line breeding these? I am currently outcrossing sb escondido to regular Vontehillo (if the male ever decides he's ready).
