THE AMAZON
Ok guys well here's the deal
Out of nowhere my unlock/lock button stopped working,I thought maybe it was a fuse switched fuse sparks right when placed fuse in fuse box,ok obviously it was a shortage, long story short took it mechanic (a friend of mine)
Less than an hr of his person looking for prob. It turns out one of the cables was peeled so wires were touching,he (his worker) put black tape on the wires put car seat back into place idk why he took the seat out after he moved the wire I told him the switches work again but he took the seat off anyway, guess to make it look like it was hard.when he had told me the wires were touching and me seeing everything that was getting done/looked at..
Anyways after everything's back in place he charges me $125.00?
But I was like wtf for putting black tape on the cut wires Wich will end up burning anyway later on.do you guys think that's a fair price?

Since it only took an hour that sounds steep. I would figure he'd just charge for an hour of labor but I wouldnt know the labor rate he charges.

That's what I thought he was going off about how he needs $ and it just makes me feel like wtf I feel like I'm getting ripped off.but didnt know if I was right or wrong?

Sounds like an average rate. Black electrical tape will not burn up, this is what its made for.

I agree about the tape. Used it for all sorts of installs in various cars. As long as it stays in place it shouldnt be a problem. Did you find out what his hourly rate is?

hate to see what he would've charged me

ts needs to post the name of the shop so we can all avoid it

$100/hr isn't an unreasonable rate just for labor and troubleshooting, but he really should an properly spliced in a new wire instead of just covering up the exposed center with electrical tape. That's kind of like being told your car was fixed with a new alternator and then finding out they used a rebuilt one instead. Nothing really wrong with it, but kind of deceiving and it's what a garage mechanic does, you should expect more out of a professional.
