Lol no problem,it's just the way he handled things that bothered me when I drove around to ask other mechanics thoughts and they all said it was a bit too much max they charge for something like this is 50 75 max if they have to replace wires

It's easy for other guys to tell you what they would have charged you. They didn't already have you on the hook for the work.

Thats true. Its easy to undercut competition when you know you dont actually have to make good on it

I honestly have nothing polite to say about any mechanic I've dealt with over the years, but that might be because I'm female.

A couple examples - I had new plugs & wires put in before winter (I can't reach banks 1, 2 & 3) and on the work order when I went to pay there was this very cryptic message about the IMRC linkage and that it would need to be repaired soon or I would start getting check engine problems, with a quote of more than $2500 for the repair.
I got home, popped the hood, looked around the IMRC and spotted the problem - the plastic clips that connect the arms to the IMRC were broken & perfectly fell below... they were still clean & white so draw your own conclusions.
For $9 I bought a pack of 6 new clips (only needed 2) and fixed the problem in about 15 minutes... $2500 my arse

Example 2 - Needed to replace one of the PCV elbows as it was starting to wear; went to the parts counter and after having to argue that I needed an elbow not a valve I was told that if it's not in their computer as a part to order (it wasn't) then my vehicle doesn't have or need it......

I have boobs, but I'm not an idiot.

According to that mechanics logic my cars pcv valve doesnt exist since the part isnt in the computer. Funny how a non existent part can fail.

A mechanic wanted $150 to replace his cabin filter. It took me five minutes to clean it and cost zero dollars.

Neither would mine since they don't sell the electronic pcv valves either; I could only buy it at the Ford dealership near me for a decent price. Anything online is at least 3 times the price when you include the shipping cost, and Napa appears to think they are made of gold since they sell them for more than $100 for a part that cost me under $25 at the dealership

Do you guys ever notice when you go in a shop you leave with another problem that was never there?
