Normally you should post these in the hybrid forum since these are hybrids. interesting find though.Saw these guys at my LFS getting really beat up. They're only 1/2" and they were in a crowded tank with much larger cichlids. I got them in a 40b now. Kinda hard to get pics because they're so small.

Yes these are most likely convict-blood parrot hybrids. Yes some short body fish nowadays could be culls but I believe these are hybrids.They may not be hybrids.RD.

+1. Not an unheard of 'genetic transcription error'. I've had a few myself, of more than one (pure) species (of known provenance). Ime they're typically weaker and even if one makes it past fryhood and you decide to keep it and let it have a shot, they often don't live long. I find it difficult not to question their relative life expectancy compared to the standard fish of a species.Most of the newer "short body" fish on the market are not hybrids. In many tanks they would be viewed as culls, and snuffed early on, today they have become popular with hobbyists. Not my cup of tea, but to each their own.
