Shortbody Convict pair

What leads you to believe that? Not arguing, I mean without any history on their genetics they could be just about anything, but I'm not seeing any parrot in them.
Yeah I guess without any knowledge of these specific fish genetics you could assume they are whatever you want them to be but what leads me to think that they are a bp/convict hybrids is that I have seen these fish bred by other hobbyists to look exactly like this. As far as body shape all around it looks very similar to a blood parrot to me.

Idk if they are hybrids or not. I'm actually not even into shortbody fish per se... I rescued a couple fish. We'll see if they live or maybe breed. Any smaller cichlids I can put with them in a 40b?

I moved them to a 20 tall last night so I could use the 40b for some larger fish and I came home today to some eggs. I grabbed my phone about an hour later to take a pic and they were gone. I'm guessing she ate them??? I've heard convicts breed a lot but I've never had a fish lay eggs after only a couple weeks in a tank.

Those look like Honduran redpoints to me.

You might be right! It'll be easier to tell once they get a little bigger. My LFS just got like 10-15 more, all labeled as convicts.

I saw some very similar fish today in a pet store, except they were pink convicts. One had the head profile of a parrot cichlid. They were not labeled on the tank.

Got some eggs again yesterday. Watched her lay them and the male fertilized them which was cool.

I also finally found these guys online mentioned in multiple places as "polar blue" cichlids. It's basically an Convict x HRP x Parrot. Stores and sites selling them for $20-40 each as a designer fish.
