New to flowerhorns but i love them.their personalities are amazing.was wondering are shortbody flowerhorns worth less ,same,or more than normal flowrhorns?any input is appreciated

It depends on the quality for price. I'd say worth less compared to a normal bodied flowerhorn of the same quality. Short bodies have a much shorter lifespan. I have 1 short body and wish I never got him.

I have owned several short bodies over the last nearly 20 years keeping various breeds of Flowerhorns. Short bodies tend to have more health problems. One of the most common health problems I have encountered deals with them developing swim bladder issues. I just recently had to euthanize a short body female that I had for 2+ years due to swim bladder condition that developed as she aged. The only time I had a "normal bodied" Flowerhorn develope a swim bladder issue was as the fish was creeping up on 7 years old and pass away from old age. The day before he passed he was swimming with his tail above his head. So in summary I am not a fan of short bodies and their value is always far lower then the normal bodied fish.

I guess it depends on your preference. Short bodies are cheaper for most but not all. Some people prefer short body due to space and not needing a bigger tank. I've seen some short body flowerhorn that won on a competition esp the GB and kamfa ones. Health wise I cant say they don't survive longer than the normal size, it depends on how you groom/ care for them. I know a LFS in nyc that have a SB GB for about 8 years now, not the best looking but its healthy.

My favorite flowerhorn was s short body. I had to put him down when he was approximately 5 years old due to infections. I was not able to nurse him back to health like I normally could. I'm still a fan of the short body look. Not sure if my flower horn succumb to the woes of being a short body or if it was something else but I don't want to go through that again at 5 years.
To answer OP's question, its worth what you are willing to pay. I saw mine at a LFS and couldn't take my eyes off of him. For me, he was worth more than anything they had in that store that day.
