thanks for the help Jordan.

Now I'll need a big ass tank just for one fish....gator shoals a possibility?

possibly...i would expect a lot of ripped fins though.

no one here really cares...

the question was for a specific person i was talking in this topic i figured he knows a lot about fish, might as well ask the question to him here cause the intervals of our post and replies are just minutes and my fish is dying every hour. the intension of the question was not to change the topic but purely for information. i dont care about you either so dont give those offensive statements.

Gators get along fine with each other usually... And yeah that is a Gator..

that's cool to hear! i wasnt going to say for sure having never actually kept a gator gar.

can you imagine a gator tank....!?!?!

so if average size in captivity is 4-5 feet. a 10x4x2 might work, wouldn't it? Hell, I'd be better off just having a pond for them, but I love the side views of gars.

just watch any tankmate you might try to keep with that thing...it will eventually try to eat them. i would recommend no tankmates...other than maybe another gator gar.

yeah, a few gators (2 or 3) I think would be amazing.

any idea as to what size of aquaria or pond would be ideal for 3 gators?

16ft by 16ft by 3-4ft would be amazing, but i've seen gators do fine in much smaller(12-16' by 6-8') ponds

this always turns into a big debate, so im not going to make an official suggestion, but obviously wider than the fish is long. just use your best judgement and keep us updated on him.

Yep.. I'm not touching that either as there is little point..
Their growth is going to be different in different cases with different husbandry. Plan for them to at least reach 5 foot and your fine in most all cases. When it comes to Gar keeping the most effective and smart thing to do is to have available multiple housing options. There is no one size fits all way to house these fish, It has to be done on a conditional basis.
