. There are numerous members on this site, some of which are new while others are here since the beginning of MFK. Those who have been on the site for years have enough experience and knowledge to give solid advice to new fellow aquarists. Their messages have been liked by many, creating their reputation for giving good ideas,options,etc. This allows to distinguish between new, inexperienced MFK members(or aquarists) and more experienced, reputable members.
As for the awards, MFK has grown over the past years and a majority of members aren't' True' monster fish keepers (no offense). They usually have small tanks. These awards help true MFKers to get recognized and appreciated, while making it more easy for other MFKers to receive advice about large tanks, monster fish, etc from specific true MFKers. Similarly other awards help distinguish members who have made useful contributions to the website, acheived something new, etc.
Last but not least, the forum has matured over the years and there are a lot of MODs to manage the website. Most of the initial bugs and problems of the website have been fixed, thus i see no other major issues with the website except for the retirement of
