Imo they have no right to take the team away from him. What did he actually do ? Did he say anything worse than what is in rap music ? Fine him but this is a free country even though I dont agree with what he said it kind of sounded like she set him up and even if she didnt he was speaking in his home not in tv or the radio

Nothing illegal, doesnt mean the association cant kick him out. we're not talking about doing anything criminal or violating his freedom of speech

I just heard the statement again. Its lifetime ban of all clippers AND nba facilities. Im sure he cant attend games in capacity

Pillow talk, hahaha.

It's the NBA, the owners have an agreement that an owner can be stripped of his rights of owning a team if they don't see him fit owning it. Again, he messed up and was wrong. I don't know if the recording is technically legal, but Sterling admitted saying it to the NBA board and didn't denied it.
There would be lawyers, but Sterling would be better off selling his team with all that happening.

This kind of is a violation of his freedom of speech,no?

Freedom of speech... Lol. There are exceptions and limitations to freedom speech in the U.S. This situation has nothing to do with freedom of speech to start with. Freedom of speech is not a valid argument here.

You can't say whatever you want in this country. Try burning a US flag or yelling "I have a bomb" in an airport and claim freedom of speech.

To follow up what was said above. It was explained to me a long time ago that you have freedom of speech but not freedom of repercussion. You have the right to say things but you arent protected from the actions that come as a result of you saying them. Falls in line with yelling fire in a movie theater, bomb at the airport, hate speech on facebook that your employers see etc etc.

No law was broken but the association can kick. By all rights hes entitled to have those opinions and voice them. Just sucks it was a private convo

"Just sucks it was a private convo." Agreed...This harkens back to the title if one of Ice T's old albums..."Freedom of Speech, but watch what you say"

That is if there was fraud, gambling, or any illegal actions that would impact the profits of the other teams. None of these apply.

He ain't selling, trust me. Besides, his wife owns half. She is not mentioned in this ban. I think people who assume/hope that Donald Sterling will no longer be the owner of the Clippers in the short foreseeable future are going to be sadly disappointed.
