I am looking to purchase a used 180g. It looks to be in good shape except it has a chip on one of the edges towards the top of the tank. The chip is on the front panel and it goes about half the thickness of the side panel.
The owner said he has had water in it with no problem.
Is this still a good tank? How much is it worth in this condition?

I'm not really sure, but you could always get the aquarium the replace the glass that's chipped if he sells it cheap enough. How much are they asking for it?

He is asking 1500.00 for the tank, stand, 2 fluval 400 somthings, light, and substrate. Remember this is in Hawaii, so the prices are higher than you are used to seeing.

Can you ask to see it filled with water?

At one of my local petstores they're selling a complete 120gal setup for $700. If I had the $$ I would have jumped all over it.

But it would be better than you buying it then finding out it leaks like crazy.

i have a 30 gal with a chip just like that and it holds water fine.. there no way in hell it is worth what he is asking even in Hawaii.... not to brag or anything but i got a buddy that can get brand new 180's for 215 with lights and top:D

I just might have to have you hook me up w/ your buddy when I get back from overseas. That'd make a nice in-wall for my dining room.

i have a 55 with a small gash on the corner and its fine. doesnt look as rough as that. but that sounds like a good steal at that price. maybe try to deal a halfdown-filltest-final payment with the seller.
