Was looking at my 40 breeder this morning and saw this. It's the only seal that looks like that should I be worried? ImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1368371022.093485.jpgImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1368371078.706674.jpg

I have a 40 long thats doing the same thing. Its been holding fine for over a year though. Im in a basement so im not as concerned if you were on an upper floor....

Could it have always been like this and you just never noticed? If there is some air pockets in there from when they squeezed the two panes together, it is no big deal. If it is a new development, it could mean that the water pressure is pushing them apart due to a faulty bond. I'd keep a close eye on it for any change. Maybe keep a picture record so you can compare side by side instead of having to try to remember how it was or if it changed.

Well this tank has only been running for about a month or so. I got it last month around the 15. It could have been like that when I bought it but I'm not sure.

What has me worried is it runs up most of the seal.

If a little air got trapped in there when they assembled it, it's nothing to worry about. If you think it is a sign of the tank separating, I'd worry about it.

It's only a 49G, and it should be rather inexpensive to replace the tank itself. Rather than replace the entire tank when you come home to find it drained. Just my thought............

I had a 10 gal that had the black part completely gone. Only a thin stripe was supporting the cracks. The tank was fine.

If it were me I'd replace the tank instead of dealing with the the idea it may crack and I have to deal with 40 gallons of water. It is inexpensive and worth the peice of mind.
