Should I do something more with my filters?

Hello; I do not know how old you are but if young the hobby will either stick with you for a long time or you will give up in a year or three. Either way you may be better off to build stuff up gradually. That way if you quit before long not too much money is gone. If you stick then the stuff will accumulate sorta like magic. I have a few things from the 1960's and 1970's.

I'm 35. My family has had tanks off and on since I was 10. My dad had a huge tank, had to be 100 gallons easy, with a bunch of cichlids. I think he had a red devil, an Oscar, some convicts and a jack dempsy. Oh and a big old Pacu.

I had an old 55 gallon back home that I bought in 2007 from a friend who had a reef tank in it for 10 years - he sold it to me when he upgraded. I kept that tank up till 2013. I have that tank and stand, lights, pumps and lines, but no filters anymore. I would like my tank back, but I don't know how I feel about driving 1600 miles with it in my truck bed.
