fx5 is great imo
I have ocean clear and nu-clear canisters, my experience with them is all good they are above any other canisters i have also eheim 2262, 2260,2250 and also had fx5, as i said they are above for a lot reson, first you can put any thing you want, easy to service, you can also conect two or more units what you need to get its a good pump they last forever and cheap to mantain my set up two units in line first its a microm the second fill with bio media i have speare microm when i open the first canister so i switch them and soak it in a bucket with clorine over nite rinse well and its ready for your next sevice, this microm last for years the other thing i like its the backflush easy to take water out the tank, also onother feture its that you can blead them so no air will be trap, they are a bit hard to set it up but once you have it running you can forget about it, one thing i recomend it's to put quick disconect valves before and after

:iagree:

I have back up micron filters and I just do a quick swap out when I do a filter change then spray off the old filter as good as possible then I soak the filter in water with a little bleach. Then I let dry and it's ready for the next filter change. I don't have quick disconnects? I like that idea if it doesn't restrict flow. I just turn off the water intakes with ball valves and open the filter to do a quick filter swap out. It takes maybe 10 minutes. :headbang2

No it wont if you don't reduced it remenber never reduced pump before water goes in, i have a panworld 100px its a high pressure pump the pump its 3/4 in and out but i went with 1" pipe intake so its plenty of water coming in and the regular 3/4 for the exit, my set up its all hard pvc with multiples ball valve disconects so is easy when you want to service the pump or the canisters i will be posting some pictures

All this makes my wet/dry sound prehistoric!

Comparing apples to oranges. I have had OceanClear filters, an FX5 and a sump. I run only the FX5 and the sump combo. I think the OceanClear are great but it depends on what your trying to accomplish. I went with the FX5 for simplicity/space. I like using the combo with the sump for heaters etc... That and my sump is horrible for mechanical.
