I've been eyeing this flowerhorn for a while now, lfs said he might work something out for me if I take it, i guess cause i'm a regular..

I really like it, but it has no kok, and doesn't seem to have any kok potential either. I'm only interested cause i'm thinking of breeding it with my female, the only thing is the guy has no clue if its fertile or not.. so theres another gamble.. I know its not an outrageously expensive fish, but I'm not one who has money to just throw around, so what do you guys think ??

I think its crossed with a texas.

this is my female I want to get him for,
btw her tail wasn't always like that, she was attacked really bad and its taken like a few months to finally become a tail again, but its grew back weird.

What is this female? She has awesone color!!! I haven't seen one like this - just curious what it was sold as and if you know how it was bred?

I've had her since she was about 2.5-3inch, and was misleadingly sold to me as a Trimac, she looked pretty much like a trimac before, the flowers on the base of the tail, along the body and behind the head.. well I was inexperienced back then and didn't know much about FH's, but I hoped this was one, anyway, when she hit about 4inch she began to start fading, I didn't even know what a fader was before, anyway that was like 2 years ago, here she is now, my favourite fish and probably the fish that started my interest in FH's. :) And until today I don't know what she is, I posted her up here before and asked people what they thought she was but no one had an answer, some people said she looks like she had amphilophus in her.. but no idea.

so do you think I should get that male?? LOL

I would not pay $80, especially with hopes of breeding it. With that said, I think it is an awesome fish and if you can talk it down to $60 then it's a pretty good pick up.

i would get it. no big head for sure. just slight hump. but that is a red texas. And you cant expect too much for $80. That's a decent price, but the fish is a good fish. not all red texas look balanced like that. Especially where you are. Get it or you might not see one as good for a long time.

it is worth and i would get it for $80, but who doesnt like to save $$$. if you can save a few bucks like FIN said, pull out $60 give it to him. Im sure you can bring that nice fish home for $65. That's a nice undone RT. gl nice fish

The female that you have is a golden flowerhorn, just different color variation of the red and yellow.

I don't know your financial situation and how much tank space you have, so its hard to give you the best suggestion. Also, it depends on how often you encounter nice flowerhorn where you live. IMO, I would not get the fish because he/she looks like it has some red texas gene and if it is a he, he might not be fertile.
