Have an opportunity to get an acrylic 230 gallon tank for $200. The guy said the acrylic is a little scratched and the center euro brace has a small crack (which he says can be repaired using a acrylic weld kit). Is it true I can repair the center brace and have this be sound to fill with water? And how hard would that be to do? Should I move on this deal???

Thanks,
w

Fixing crack in acrylic is very easy. Probably about five minutes of actual work. Sounds like a decent deal you have there.

The brace is there for a reason. It is to prevent bowing.
That is why the OP is concerned with fixing it.

Yes, I know. If the OP does not fix it right, it will bow. That was my point.

The OP never insinuated that he would try and fill the tank with the cracked top. He simply asked if the crack is a simple fix.

I've talked with the guy and I do not believe the crack is large enough to cause any problems, but I haven't seen any pictures. All I have to say is if you don't get the tank before Friday I may be getting it! :)

Get it...asap. Acrylic is easy to buff out and to fix cracks.
