Should I move the Bichir?

Tiger Barbs aren't that aggressive, they just love nipping fins. U could use Tinfoil Barbs... Get at least 3-4 of them. They swim really fast and will take the GG's attention away from your Bichir. I agree that your GG is bored. They are intelligent fish and I'm sure they get bored.

Dither fish you can use:
  1. Tinfoil Barbs
  2. Bala Sharks
  3. Silver Dollars
There are others too but they are smallish fish.

It depends on how big your tank is. If you overstock your tank, then the situation will just get worse. If you do choose this option and the GG is still picking on your Bichir, it would be best to remove him coz his growth will get stunted from the stress. :nilly:

I might try silver dollars or balas, tinfoils are pretty expensive here. What would be a good number to add?

At least 3-4 Balas or 3-4 Silver Dollars. They'll display shoaling behaviour which will distract the GG's attention. U can get 1 or 2 more depending on your tank size. Balas get to about 10" and Silver Dollars 5".

aren't GGs preditory i'd worry about it getting eaten enless you have a bigger tank to put the GG in which you should they get pretty big

but i'd say if that keeps up get it into a differnt tank a 55 is the minimum for a senegal for life but wider is better
Gourami's are suckers - no bite to them!

nothing to worry about if the Bichir is 5 or 6 inch ... I got green tiger barbs back when my big tank was only a 56 tall ...

and still have all of them in the same tank now! .... just now its a 210 instead of 56

I ended up getting 10 scissortail rasbora, seems to help a bit.
