I have a guy who is going to sell me a redtail cat for 15bucks(small) kuz he is going out of buisness I relize the huge problem of figuring out what to do with the catfish once it reaches 4-5 feet kuz most dont have a tank capable of holding this fish although they buy them anyway so, My question is should I buy it an try to do the best I can or let someone buy it an prolly not care an it die kuz its in a 55 gallon for its entire life? I mean I know a 300 gallon isnt big enough but its way better than it living in a 55 gallon, ya know.......

How fast do rtc's grow?

Im thinking a 360g should hold a rtc for awhile?
(8x4x3?)

well that gives me sometime to get my crap togeher how fast we talking to 12''?

GRAB IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't pass on a deal like that , by the way you talk you know quite a bit about fish andknow how big a RTC can get and know that your going to have to Upgrade your tank size or even a pond , I would much rather see you get the fish than some body who see's the fish and wants it cause it looks pretty or whatever and don't know anything else about them

They hit 18" in 6 months, easy. When I had mine I had the hopes of upgrading but couldn't keep up with his growth. I ended up driving him out to Ohio (16hrs round trip) to donate him to John (Monsterfishrescue.com). My RTC was one of the greatest fish that I've ever kept so if you can pull it off, go for it.

wow, that is fast. :nilly: It might have to be a plywood tank(same size) until I can get the loot together to buy an all glass aquarium.
an build my own stand which is cheap an easy.

Pass.....I had 2 RTC's that i feed right, and grew to 22'' in 10 months. Granted the 360 would do good for the RTC, but you won't be able to keep other fish.
