I found on the net that the difference between gachua and striata would be the pelvic fins-striata will have them/gachua will not.

I will post pics tomorrow of my new addition-Even if the albino is a striata I think I will stick with the smaller gachua in light of it's tankmates.

Thats wrong info Gachua has pelvic fins.
also albino striata stay small like around 15"

Am I correct then as it wasstated earlier in this thread that the albino would almost assuradly be a striata-not gachua????

I appreciate the info-I really never thought that I would be in the market for a SH-Now I realized that I really do want to add one to my tank.

There are many varients of Gachua, They are possible different species, Some only reach about 5" some upto about 8". Its the smallest that is the most aggressive. All Gachua do have pelvic fins.

The albino is probably Striata. I wouldn't stick the Striata in with your other fish. They are known to be extreamly aggressive and would probably terrorise the current inhabitants or kill them.

Well, I did IT!!!!!!!

Attached is new photo of my SH. I currently have him/her in a five gallon quarentine tank. I will keep him in there for about a week while I do the customary treatment for parasites.
I am quite excited on this additon.

The albino's were definatly a different species from the gachua, I am glad I steered clear as I would be wrong to mess to much with the mix in my tank.

Thanks again for the support!!!!

Just to clear things up.

Both the gachua and the striata has pelvic fins

Gachua has 31-37 dorsal finrays
Striata has 37-46

Gachua size 6-7"
Striata size 40"

Gachua is an awesome fish. They can get aggressive when breeding.
They can grow up to over 11"

Lets get this straight salt will not kill them.. that hearsay..

Impossible...
me and my buddy bought 11 bleheri from the same batch. all of mine died, due to salt in my tank. all of his are doin great and still alive. dare i say, no salt in his tank.
