sweet pickup on the cat.. but i second the no pacu... u will regret it eventually... around 15 years ago when i lived in montana i had a buddy who had one that weighed over 40 lbs. pacus get crazy big and crap like theirs no tomorrow.. but either way gl with your rescues!

I'm sure I won't regret getting the Pacu cuz this is my project of a SA Amazon Community and it needs Pacus;). Plus Pacus have so much personality. Also this 450g is not my fish's home for life because I am building a 2000-3000g DIY indoor pond/tank when I move back home in my basement. The 450g is just a grow out tank. I will probabely look for 1-2 more Pacus once my final project is finish:)

I had 3 pacus with my achara. Had the pacus for over 7yrs...things wouldn't let me put anything new in the tank, and beat up my achara. Tried making him a safe haven in the tank, but to no avail they were determined to get kitty fish....I liked the catfish better than the pacus....they went to a better, bigger home (gave them away to someone who had a bigger tank with other pacus). Pacus are extremely hardy tho

Wow 7 yrs old, they must be HUGE:WHOA: Have any pics?

yeah, they were lil' monsters. Considered babies by adult standards. Ones at our zoo are HUGE. I often wonder how they are doing...I might still have the guys email....I have pics somewhere of them

But, they were pretty tame to the hand. Just wouldn't accept any new siblings of any kind

Wow! I can't wait for pics...

I picked them up today after work and I actually had a second look on the catfish and he's actually only pushing 19-20" but he's still pretty big compared to my 13"-14" RTC. Also the workers at the LFS had troubles getting him out of the tank as he jumped out of the net and flew behind the tank about 6' from the ground...The catfish got injured from the glass and has a big gash on it's side:( assuming it clipped the corner of a tank or the glass lid while falling so I picked up some Melafix and hopefully he heals fast. Hence the damage that was done the LFS reinbursed me with another free large monster cuz they felt bad so they threw in a 13"-14" Giant redfin Gourami for free as well:). That's 3 large monsters for the price of 40 bux:WHOA:. Anyhow I wasn't really a huge fan on giant gouramis until I saw the redfin one which I think is beautiful. I find the regular type giant gourami to be ugly but the redfin's colors changed my mind about them. With it actually adds more color to my tank now. I also fell in love with the Redbelly Pacu too. I named the Pacu "Grimace" like the macdonalds character and the Giant Gourami "Mr. Miyagi".

I give these guys 2 years max in the 450g then I will start planning on the DIY few thousand gallon monster tank/pond build.

Enjoy

Sweet pickups man. The rtgg is in great shape. Congrats

Thanks guys, ya the RTGG is stunning. Once I saw him I was like "WOW" never knew there was such a nice Giant Gourami! I'm really happy with my stock now though the tank is bare the colors now makes me not notice it as much:)
