I was at the LFS today and saw a sad sight: a BEAUTIFUL 9" red oscar in a 29g tank with four adult red devils. His fins are in perfect shape but it's clear he's being bullied as he has some shallow bite wounds on both sides of his body. Other than that he is GORGEOUS-- a ruby red color to him, no sign of HITH, and a cute face.

I want to bring this guy home so badly. The situation is, he'd be in a 30g hospital tank for a few weeks to heal his wounds, then he'd have to live in my 90g with a 4" male GT and 3" male convict. I think they'd be ok but would this get too crowded long-term? I need help, people! Say the word and I'll bring this guy home :)

Heck yes! The 30 gallon temp. tank is better than what he is in now. Long term an Oscar, GT, and a Con is great in a 90...if they get along. I say do it.

i would have bought him there and then

+ 1

go get him

Got him! He's in a bucket acclimating right now. I had to switch around some of my fish which is making me sweat but he'll soon be happy in the 90g with others.

The wounds aren't quite as bad as I thought. Just some scales missing mainly but he has a few fleshy parts exposed. I'll get some pics of him up-- I'm really excited to finally have an Oscar!

Got pics on the way :-) I can already tell this guy's got a great personality. He's swimming around the hospital tank like "No more devils??? SWEET!"

yeah get him chances are after he gets out of the hospital tank you'll be so attached to him you'll want to buy him his own tank ;)
