Because yesterday i found my yard was infested with them, in total yesterday i found around 20 earthworms. The bichir is chewing on the pellets but not eating them. He loves earthworms, also do the GT and giant danios.
depends on how long its been YOUR yard. if you know its chemical free and clean i'd say go for it. too often we try too tell our fish something instead of listening to what they have to say. if they like the earthworms there's probably a reason why:-) just be sure to keep a VARIETY in their diet.

did you know that earthworms are messy when your fish chew them?

I would still continue to feed pellets regardless. Earthworms are not good as staple. They are good as part of the diet though. I breed earthworms myself. Got a plastioc ontainer about 12x8x5 or something like that. Got around 400 worms in there. I feed about 20 worms a week so it works out good.

Why not have the best of both worlds? Pellets are way superior nutrition wise. And you can still feed earthworms too! :D

Just make sure to be careful of any insecticides if you feed earthworms from outside. If you buy them be careful of the ones that you can buy in the stores. Often they are fed chicken crap.

Mine eat krill,prawn bloodworm,mealworms,massivore,cichlid pellets,catfish pellets,algae wafers flake food,discus food etc

Good idea! The water froze all the earthworms :irked:

I like the idea of breeding earthworms as I have some motoro rays and they love earthworms! I am definitely going to have to look into this.

I am doing both. I feed my two babies anything that sinks really - shrimp, prawns, about 4 different types of pellets, various wormfishbaitstuffs as long as its chemical free. :)

They get partial to the bloodworm pellets, so I try to keep them for a treat or they will just stick to them and eat nothing else.

feed both i breed my own earthworms they work great i think u can feed the earthworms the fish pellets 2 so the fish kinda get 2n1
